VirtualPBX’s recently created Dash Plans have replaced their previous, standard virtual PBX offerings. This plan costs $14.99 per month (or save 20% buy paying $143.88.88 annually) for 1,000. The pricing for the Dash Plan's is based on both users and minutes, which could make this unaffordable for people that need either very few minutes per person or a large number of minutes per person. The base price includes 1,000 minutes for 1 user, but each additional user adds $12.99 of cost, but doesn't add any call minutes. To get more minutes, you'll have to either upgrade to Dash Pro or Unlimited, which cost $30/ user/ month and $39/ user/ month respectively. Because of this strange pricing structure, we recommend exploring VirtualPBX's Dash Unlimited Plans, if you like the VirtualPBX service and plan to grow your employee base.

Pricing

VirtualPBX’s Single User Dash plan provides 1,000 minutes for a single user and costs $14.99 per month or $143.88 per year (which works out to $11.99/month). They also offer a monthly with annual contract plan that costs $12.99/ month. This translates to about 1.5 cents per minute with the monthly plan or 1.2 cents per minute with the annual plan, making this plan a good value compared to similar services for one user. VirtualPBX also charges $3.49 per month or $33.48 per year for Taxes and Regulatory Recovery Fees.

The price per user comes down as you add additional users, but no additional minutes per user are added when you add a user. For example, if you had 20 users, and paid monthly, the cost per user would be $259.80/ month ($12.99/ user), but the plan would still only include 1,000 minutes total to be shared by all the users (50/ user). Also, this plan would increase the effective cost per minute from 1.5 cents to over 26 cents. Furthermore overage minutes cost 4.9 cents per minute. This pricing structure makes Dash Basic Plans completely uneconomical for companies that intend to grow. As an alternative, VirtualPBX customers with multiple employees may want to consider the Dash Unlimited plans, which include an unlimited number of minutes per month and cost $34.99 per month per user for 2-99 users or $27.99 per month per user if paid annually ($299.88 per year per user). 14 Day free-trial. 

Phone Numbers

VirtualPBX provides a local number or 855, 866, 877 or 888 number for free with your monthly service. For a $25 setup fee, you may purchase a true 800 toll-free number. For a $25 setup fee, you can also obtain a vanity number or port in an existing number that you own. VirtualPBX also offers international numbers in cities across more than 40 countries. International numbers usually cost a one-time connection fee of $20 to $35 as well as a $20 to $35 monthly fee.

Online Interface

VirtualPBX provides an above average online interface with a setup wizard to help you get started. All PBX services provide an online interface with which you customize and monitor your phone system. In VirtualPBX's online interface, you can access call logs, make a blocked call list, download recorded calls, and store contacts. You can also set specific call handling rules, such as block call, route call to system admin, route call to an extension, and send a call to voicemail through the interface.

Voicemail

VirtualPBX stores your voicemails online for as long as you wish. You may also opt to receive a voicemail via email or download your voicemails through the online client. VirtualPBX does not offer text transcriptions of voicemails.

Call Handling

VirtualPBX offers Find Me/Follow Me call handling, which allows you to set a chain of numbers to be dialed in order until the call is answered or sent to voicemail. One of the main functions of a PBX system is to set rules on how calls are handled when your number is dialed. While on a call, you can transfer the caller to voicemail, start recording the phone call, or place the call on hold using solely your phone’s keypad. You cannot block a call using the keypad. VirtualPBX also offers call screening and Do Not Disturb, which lets you turn off your extension to callers. You can set up an auto attendant, or call menu, and define how long someone waits in a queue before the menu automatically redirects a call. You can even use your account to make outgoing calls while outside of the U.S. Under testing, VirtualPBX appeared to offer above average, clear audio quality. Additionally, VirtualPBX can route calls to any softphone. A softphone is simply a computer with Virtual PBX's software installed or mobile device with the Virtual PBX app. All a softphone requires to make and receive calls is an Internet connection.

Conference Calling, Internet Faxing, and Mobile Apps

VirtualPBX gives you an additional bank of dedicated conference call minutes equivalent to the number of minutes in your plan. Conference call minutes are then deducted from your conference-minute allotment by calculating the number of callers times the minutes used in the call. VirtualPBX provides a reference guide for conference call moderator keypad shortcuts. VirtualPBX also offers send and receive Internet fax capability, which meets our Market Standard for send and receive Internet fax. VirtualPBX also offers iOS and Android apps that you can install to make or receive phone calls through your Virtual PBX line using your smart phone's data connection. One thing to note is that softphones are registered to your plan as additional, metered lines and calls made using them are charged at a rate of 3.8 to 3.6 cents per minute, depending on your plan.

Customer Support

VirtualPBX offers quality phone customer support 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. During our research, the support answered 4 out of 5 of our test questions correctly. They also provide 24/7 emergency support. They also provide searchable FAQs and tutorials in order to answer questions you may have about the service. They do not currently provide online discussion forums.
