Conclusion:

VoiceShot offers 100 to 166 monthly minutes and unlimited extensions for 9 cents per minute or $9 to $14.94, which meets our basic monthly fee Market Standard. They offer custom pricing that allows you to pay for an exact amount of minutes you desire on a per month basis, but lack common virtual PBX features like voicemail to email, conference calling, and internet fax. We recommend VoiceShot for users seeking an amount of minutes not offered elsewhere.

Pricing

VoiceShot’s Custom plan can provide 150 minutes and an unlimited number of extensions for $3.50 per month. Their pricing allows you to select how many minutes you desire from 100 to 166 minutes for 9 cents per minute, 300 to 799 minutes for 5 cents per minute, or 1000 or more for 4 cents per minute. VoiceShot offers no annual discount pricing, but does not charge you any setup fee upon sign-up. VoiceShot offers a free trial of up to 200 calls to test out their service.

Phone Numbers

VoiceShot provides a local or  800, 855, 866, 877 or 888 toll-free number. You cannot obtain a vanity or international number, but they can port an existing number into their system for free.

Online Interface

VoiceShot’s online interface is good quality and they provide a setup wizard to help you get started.  All Virtual PBX services provide an online interface with which you can customize and monitor your phone system. You can access call logs, make a blocked call list, and store contacts through the online interface. You can also set specific call handling rules that designate where to transfer a caller when they dial into the system.  

Voicemail

You can store voicemails indefinitely with VoiceShot, but they are not accessible online. You must dial into the system in order to hear them.  Voicemails cannot be received via email, and you cannot receive text transcriptions of your voicemails.

Call Handling

VoiceShot offers Find Me/Follow Me call handling, which allows you to set a string of numbers to be dialed sequentially until the call is answered or the call finally goes to voicemail.  One of the main functions of a PBX system is to set rules on how calls are handled when your number is dialed. While on a call, you can place the call on hold using just your phone’s keypad, but you cannot block a caller or transfer them to voicemail using the keypad. You cannot record conversations with VoiceShot. They offer call screening but do not offer a Do Not Disturb option, which makes your phone appear to be off to callers.  An auto attendant can be set up to direct callers, but you cannot define how long the caller waits in the queue before he or she is automatically routed somewhere. VoiceShot does not allow you to place an outgoing call while you’re outside the U.S., but they do provide clear audio quality for calls.

Conference Calling, Internet Faxing and Mobile Apps

VoiceShot does not offer conference calling, Internet faxing, or smartphone mobile applications at this time.

Customer Support

VoiceShot provides good phone customer support available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST and Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST. They also offer searchable FAQs and tutorials, but we found them to be not very useful.  VoiceShot does not offer discussion forums on their website to help customers troubleshoot technical issues.
